Avabhṛtha Bath, Tīrtha-Pilgrimage, and the Vision of Divine Radiance
Lord Shiva (Mahadeva)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse frames ego (ahaṅkāra) as the root error: when the bound soul (paśu) disregards Pati (Śiva), pride arises and obscures right understanding, blocking grace and liberation.
Disregard of Śiva here implies neglect of His accessible Saguna forms—such as the Liṅga and His divine presence in worship—through which humility, reverence, and receptivity to Śiva’s anugraha (grace) are cultivated.
The practical takeaway is humility in sādhana: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with reverence, accompanied by simple Liṅga-pūjā (or Tripuṇḍra/bhasma remembrance) to reduce ego and restore devotion.
