It uses the imagery of ‘tears’ and a bird’s lament to portray viraha (the pain of separation), a bhakti mood that intensifies longing for Pati (Lord Shiva) and turns the mind inward toward liberation.
Viraha is resolved through steady remembrance and worship—fixing the mind on Saguna Shiva (often through the Linga) until the devotee’s restless emotions become one-pointed devotion and contemplative stillness.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a contemplative mood of longing, offering flowers and water to the Linga while observing inner detachment from worldly ties.
