Adhyaya 70: आदिसर्गः—महत्-अहङ्कार-तन्मात्रा-भूतसृष्टिः, ब्रह्माण्डावरणम्, प्रजासर्गः, त्रिमूर्ति-शैवाधिष्ठानम्

वर्तमानव्यतीतानि तथैवानागतान्यपि स्मरते सर्वकार्याणि तेनासौ स्मृतिरुच्यते

vartamānavyatītāni tathaivānāgatānyapi smarate sarvakāryāṇi tenāsau smṛtirucyate

Aquilo pelo qual se recordam todos os assuntos—os do presente, os do passado e até os do futuro—por isso é chamado smṛti, a lembrança.
