paraśriyābhitapyaṃte hīnāṃ savaṃti ye striyām | paṃktyarthaṃ ye na kurvaṃti dānayajñādikāḥ kriyāḥ
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced)
Scene: Two contrasting figures: one person scorched by inner envy watching another’s prosperity; beside them, a communal line of pilgrims/brāhmaṇas awaiting charity and offerings, with the negligent person turning away from dāna-yajña.
Envy and refusal to support dharmic works (dāna-yajña) degrade one’s character and social harmony.
No tīrtha is mentioned; the focus is on inner vice (envy) and outward dharmic support (charity, sacrifice).
Perform dāna and yajña (and similar dharmic acts) as part of one’s communal and religious responsibility.
