yatrādhikṛtya śakunīndharmādharmavicāraṇam | purāṇaṃ navasāhasraṃ mārkaṇḍeyaṃ taducyate

Translation

ଯେ ପୁରାଣ ପକ୍ଷୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଧାର କରି ଧର୍ମ ଓ ଅଧର୍ମର ବିଚାର କରେ, ସେହି ନବସହସ୍ର ଶ୍ଲୋକଯୁକ୍ତ ‘ମାର୍କଣ୍ଡେୟ’ ବୋଲି ପରିଚିତ।
