एतदेव यदा पद्ममभूद्धैरण्मयं जगत् । तद्वृत्तांताश्रयांतं तत्पाद्ममित्युच्यते बुधैः

Transliteration

etadeva yadā padmamabhūddhairaṇmayaṃ jagat | tadvṛttāṃtāśrayāṃtaṃ tatpādmamityucyate budhaiḥ

Translation

ଏହି ହେଉଛି ସେଇ ବୃତ୍ତାନ୍ତ—ଯେତେବେଳେ ପଦ୍ମ ଉଦ୍ଭବ ହେଲା ଓ ଜଗତ୍ ହିରଣ୍ମୟ, ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣମୟ ହେଲା। ସେଇ କଥାର ଆଶ୍ରୟ ଥିବାରୁ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନେ ଏହାକୁ ‘ପାଦ୍ମ’ (ପଦ୍ମପୁରାଣ) କହନ୍ତି।
