pulastya uvāca | viprāṇāṃ vacanaṃ śrutvā sa rājā śraddhayā'nvitaḥ | tīrthayātrāparo bhūtvā paribabhrāma medinīm
Pulastya
Listener: Primary listener within the Purāṇic frame (not named here); internal listener is the audience of Pulastya’s account
Scene: Pulastya, seated as a sage-narrator, recounts: the king listens to brāhmaṇas, hands folded; next scene shows the king departing with minimal retinue, walking the earth’s sacred landscape.
Faithful acceptance of dharmic counsel transforms intention into action—pilgrimage becomes a lived vow.
The verse sets the narrative frame for multiple tīrthas; the focus is on the king’s earth-wide tīrtha-yātrā.
Tīrtha-yātrā (pilgrimage) itself is presented as a sustained dharmic practice undertaken with śraddhā.
