tatra tīrthe tu yatkiṃcicchubhaṃ vā yadi vāśubham | kriyate nṛpaśārdūla sarvaṃ koṭiguṇaṃ bhavet
Mārkaṇḍeya (continued)
Tirtha: Koṭī-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: King (nṛpaśārdūla)
Scene: A didactic tableau: on one side devotees performing charity and worship with radiant results; on the other, a figure committing a minor offense at the tīrtha and facing a shadowy, magnified consequence—illustrating koṭi-guṇa karma.
Powerful sacred places magnify consequences; therefore pilgrims should be especially mindful and virtuous.
The Koṭīśvara/Koṭī Tīrtha area praised in Adhyāya 224.
No specific ritual; it gives a cautionary dharma principle about amplified results of actions at the tīrtha.
