Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
hariṃ saṃpūjayedbhaktyā paśupāśavimocanam | sarve'ntarāyā naśyaṃti manaḥśuddhiśca jāyate || 100 ||
Sanatkumara (in dialogue with Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It declares Hari-worship as both liberating (freeing the bound soul from bondage) and purifying, removing inner and outer impediments while generating manaḥ-śuddhi (clarity and purity of mind).
Bhakti is presented as the direct means: wholehearted worship of Hari destroys antarāyas (hindrances to spiritual life) and naturally produces inner purification, which supports steadiness in sādhana and progress toward moksha.
The verse emphasizes practical ritual orientation (proper upāsanā/arcana—“saṃpūjayet”) rather than a technical Vedāṅga; the takeaway is disciplined devotional worship as a repeatable practice that yields measurable inner results (obstacle-removal and mental purity).
