Narrative voice (contextually Sūta/Lomaharṣaṇa in Tīrthamāhātmya)
Tirtha: Saptarṣi-āśrama-tīrtha (śrāddha-sthāna)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Dvi-ja-śreṣṭhas
Scene: A simple śrāddha in the hermitage precinct: offerings of fruits, roots, and vegetables arranged on leaves; a brāhmaṇa recipient seated; the performer offers water and sesame, invoking pitṛs under the shade of trees near the tīrtha.
Simple, sattvic offerings made with faith at a powerful tīrtha can yield merits praised as equal to the grandest Vedic sacrifices.
The “tatra” indicates the same tīrtha described in this chapter’s Sthala-māhātmya (later linked with the Saptarṣis).
Perform śrāddha at the tīrtha using roots, tubers, fruits, and vegetables as offerings.
