Viśvāmitra (contextual)
Tirtha: Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: assembly of brāhmaṇas/pilgrims seeking procedural guidance
Scene: A small assembly of brāhmaṇas and pilgrims in a temple-courtyard; one agitated man hisses in displeasure while elders gesture for calm, indicating that no verdict should be issued in anger.
Dharma requires inner composure; decisions made amid anger and dissatisfaction are considered ritually unsound.
The instruction is part of the Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra-māhātmya discourse in Nāgara-khaṇḍa.
Avoid making a ‘vinirṇaya’ (final determination) in rites when anger/displeasure signs (like sītkāra) are present.
