Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa/Sauti)
Tirtha: Vidarbha (regional setting)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣayaḥ
Scene: A learned brāhmaṇa Vedamitra in a Vidarbha village/āśrama setting, holding palm-leaf manuscripts, surrounded by students or ritual implements, conveying calm scholarship.
Dharma narratives often begin by establishing a teacher-like exemplar—learned, disciplined, and rooted in śāstra.
Vidarbha is named as the setting (a sacred-geographical marker), though no particular tīrtha is specified in this verse.
None in this verse; it introduces a character for the forthcoming vrata-related account.
