Mantra 1
गायन्ति त्वा गायत्रिणो ऽर्चन्त्यर्कमर्किणः ब्रह्माणस्त्वा शतक्रत उद्वंशमिव येमिरे
The Gāyatrī-chanters sing thee; the utterers of arka praise the hymn; the priests, O Śatakratu, have exalted thee, as men raise aloft a pole.
Mantra 2
इन्द्रं विश्वा अवीवृधन्त्समुद्रव्यचसं गिरः रथीतमं रथीनां वाजानां सत्पतिं पतिम्
All hymns, vast as the ocean, have magnified Indra, the best of charioteers among charioteers, the lord, the lord of vāja, the master of the good.
Mantra 3
इममिन्द्र सुतं पिब ज्येष्ठममर्त्यं मदम् शुक्रस्य त्वाभ्यक्षरन्धारा ऋतस्य सादने
Drink, Indra, this expressed Soma, the chief, the immortal exhilaration: the bright streams have flowed unto thee in the seat of ṛta.
Mantra 4
यदिन्द्र चित्र म इह नास्ति त्वादातमद्रिवः राधस्तन्नो विदद्वस उभयाहस्त्या भर
Whatsoever splendid bounty, O Indra, is not here for me, bestowed by thee, O wielder of the bolt—bring that unto us, to us who worship aright, with both hands.
Mantra 5
श्रुदी हवं तिरश्च्या इन्द्र यस्त्वा सपर्यति सुवीर्यस्य गोमतो रायस्पूर्धि महां असि
Hear, Indra, the invocation (addressed) from every side by him who worships thee; do thou fill (him) with wealth, abounding in cattle, and with excellent valour; for thou art great.
Mantra 6
असावि सोम इन्द्र ते शविष्ठ धृष्णवा गहि आ त्वा पृणक्त्विन्द्रियं रजः सूर्यो न रश्मिभिः
The Soma has been expressed for thee, Indra; come, most powerful, bold (hero): it fills thee with (thy) Indra-energy, as the Sun (fills) the firmament with his rays.
Mantra 7
एन्द्र याहि हरिभिरुप कण्वस्य सुष्टुतिम् दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो
Come, Indra, with thy tawny steeds, unto the well-spoken praise of Kaṇva; (thou) the ruler of yonder heaven—go thou to heaven, O bestower of celestial (wealth).
Mantra 8
आ त्वा गिरो रथीरिवास्थुः सुतेषु गिर्वणः अभि त्वा समनूषत गावो वत्सं न धेनवः
Unto thee the hymns have stood ready, as charioteers, at the Soma-pressings, O Indra, praised by song; towards thee they have sounded in concert, as milch-kine (low) to their calf.
Mantra 9
एतो न्विन्द्रं स्तवाम शुद्धं शुद्धेन साम्ना शुद्धैरुक्थैर्वावृध्वांसं शुद्धैराशीर्वान्ममत्तु
Come now, let us praise Indra, the pure, with a pure Sāman; (him) who is augmented by pure hymns: may he, rich in benedictions, be exhilarated by the pure (Soma).
Mantra 10
यो रयिं वो रयिन्तमो यो द्युम्नैर्द्युम्नवत्तमः सोमः सुतः स इन्द्र ते ऽस्ति स्वधापते मदः
That Soma which is most rich in wealth for you, and most glorious with (all) splendours, being pressed, is, Indra, thy exhilaration, O lord of svadhā.
It praises Indra as the great hearer of the ritual call and asks him to grant prosperity—especially cattle and wealth—along with heroic strength, with Soma presented as his exhilaration (mada).
Soma is described as the pressed drink that becomes Indra’s ‘mada’ (exhilaration). In the ritual logic, Soma strengthens Indra’s power, making his gifts to the worshipper effective and abundant.
They are sung in Sāmavedic performance by the chanting priests—Udgātṛ with Prastotṛ and Pratihartṛ—within the Indra-focused stotra portions connected to Soma-pressing and praise.
