Dhvaja-Dhāraṇa Mahātmyam: Sumati–Satyamatī, Humility, and Deliverance by Hari’s Messengers
viṣṇudūtā ūcuḥ | bho bho krūrā dūrācārā vivekaparivarjitāḥ | muñcadhvametau niṣpāpau dampatī harivallabhau || 58 ||
Vishnudutas (messengers of Vishnu)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It asserts that those who are dear to Hari are protected by divine authority; even fearsome forces must release the blameless devotee when Viṣṇu’s messengers intervene.
Bhakti is shown as a living refuge: being “harivallabha” (beloved of Hari) is presented as a decisive spiritual status that grants protection and supports liberation-oriented dharma.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is ethical discernment (viveka) as a dharmic principle—condemning actions done without discrimination.
