Rite of the Varāha Dvādaśī Vow and an Exemplary Narrative on Expiation for Brahmin-Slaying

दंष्ट्राग्रेणोद्धृतां पृथ्वीं सपर्वतवनद्रुमाम् । माधवं मधुहन्तारं वाराहं रूपमास्थितम् ॥ ४१.८ ॥

daṃṣṭrāgreṇoddhṛtāṃ pṛthvīṃ saparvatavanadrumām | mādhavaṃ madhuhantāraṃ vārāhaṃ rūpam āsthitam || 41.8 ||

Baginda (Viṣṇu), setelah mengangkat Bumi pada hujung taring-Nya—berserta gunung-ganang, rimba dan pepohon—telah mengambil rupa Babi Hutan: Mādhava, pembunuh Madhu.
