Varaha Purana 207.36 — Adhyaya 207, Shloka 36

Section on the ‘Person’ who Entices Beings within the Cycle of Rebirth

एवं प्राप्नोति पुण्येन मौनेनाज्ञां महामुने ॥ उपभोगांस्तु दानेन ब्रह्मचर्येण जीवितम् ॥

evaṃ prāpnoti puṇyena maunenājñāṃ mahāmune | upabhogāṃs tu dānena brahmacaryeṇa jīvitam ||

Demikianlah, dengan pahala kebajikan, wahai Mahāmune, melalui amalan mauna (diam suci) seseorang memperoleh kewibawaan dan kuasa perintah. Dengan dana (sedekah suci) diperoleh kenikmatan, dan dengan brahmacarya diperoleh kekuatan hayat yang teguh.
