ब्रह्मचर्येण तां रात्रिं कृत्वा सङ्कल्प्य मानसे ॥ धौतवस्त्रेण सुस्नातो मौनव्रतपरायणः।

brahmacaryeṇa tāṁ rātriṁ kṛtvā saṅkalpya mānase || dhautavastreṇa susnāto maunavrataparāyaṇaḥ

Setelah melalui malam itu dengan brahmacarya (pengekangan diri/selibat) dan menetapkan sankalpa dalam batin, hendaklah ia mandi dengan sempurna, memakai pakaian yang telah dibasuh, serta berpegang teguh pada vrata berdiam diri (mauna).
