The Sacred Greatness of Lohārgala

The ‘Iron-Bolt’ Tīrtha

सोमो बृहस्पतिश्चैव ये चान्ये वै दिवौकसः ॥ तेषां चैवार्गलं दत्त्वा चक्रं गृह्य महौजसम् ॥

somo bṛhaspatiś caiva ye cānye vai divaukasaḥ | teṣāṁ caivārgalaṁ dattvā cakraṁ gṛhya mahaujasam ||

FAQs

It preserves a wordplay-like linkage between “Lohārgala” and “argala” (barrier/bolt), illustrating how Purāṇic place-names can be narratively motivated.

No new location is named; the action is situated within the ongoing Lohārgala account.

Protection is framed as an organized, distributive act (granting safeguards to many), aligning power with collective security rather than private gain.
