The Merit and Ritual Procedure of Donating a Jaggery Cow

Guḍadhenu

गुडधेनुमाहात्म्यम् होतॊवाच— गुडधेनुं प्रवक्ष्यामि सर्वकामार्थसाधिनीम् । अनु‍लिप्ते महीपृष्ठे कृष्णाजिनकुशास्तृते ॥ १०२-१ ॥ तस्योपरिकृतं वस्त्रं गुडमानिय पुष्कलम् । कृत्वा गुडमयीं धेनुं सवसाङ्कास्यदेहिनीम् ॥

guḍadhenu-māhātmyam hotovāca— guḍadhenuṁ pravakṣyāmi sarvakāmārthasādhinīm | anulipte mahīpṛṣṭhe kṛṣṇājinakuśāstṛte || 102-1 || tasyoparikṛtaṁ vastraṁ guḍam ānīya puṣkalam | kṛtvā guḍamayīṁ dhenuṁ savasāṅkāsyadehinīm ||

Hotṛ berkata: “Aku akan menerangkan kemuliaan ‘guḍadhenu’, yang dikatakan menyempurnakan segala hajat dan tujuan. Di atas tanah yang telah disapu dan disediakan, hamparkan kulit kijang hitam dan rumput kuśa, lalu letakkan sehelai kain di atasnya; kemudian bawalah guḍa (gula merah/jaggery) yang banyak dan bentuklah seekor lembu daripada guḍa, dengan rupa tubuh beserta anggota-anggotanya.”
