विनष्टे भूतले देव अग्निष्टोमादिकाः क्रियाः । उच्छिद्यते ततोऽस्माकं नाशो नूनं भविष्यति
vinaṣṭe bhūtale deva agniṣṭomādikāḥ kriyāḥ | ucchidyate tato'smākaṃ nāśo nūnaṃ bhaviṣyati
Wahai Dewa, apabila permukaan bumi musnah, upacara suci seperti Agniṣṭoma dan segala ritual lainnya akan terputus. Apabila ia terhenti demikian, kebinasaan kami pasti akan menyusul.
Devas
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and ṛṣis (contextual)
Scene: Devas lament before Brahmā: the earth-altar is burning; sacrificial fires and altars fade; priests and implements appear as ghostly silhouettes, signifying rites being cut off and devas weakening.
Yajña and dharmic rites are portrayed as supports of cosmic harmony; when the world is destabilized, spiritual order collapses too.
Prabhāsa is the larger sacred setting; this verse emphasizes protecting dharma within that māhātmya narrative.
Agniṣṭoma and allied Vedic rites are referenced as essential practices that must not be interrupted.
