bhasmaśāyī bhasmadigdho nṛtta gītairatoṣayat | japena vṛṣanādaiśca tapasā bhāvitaḥ śuciḥ
Berbaring di atas abu suci dan disapukan abu pada tubuh, baginda menyukakan Tuhan dengan tarian dan nyanyian. Disucikan serta diperkemas oleh japa, oleh lantunan bunyi-bunyi Veda, dan oleh tapa, baginda menjadi murni batinnya.

Devotion becomes transformative when supported by disciplined practice—ash-symbolism (vairāgya), japa, and tapas purify the devotee and please Śiva.
