ततःप्रभृति लिंगस्य मर्त्त्ये पूजा व्यजायत । पुरासीच्छंकरः पूज्यो यथान्ये त्रिदशालयाः
tataḥprabhṛti liṃgasya marttye pūjā vyajāyata | purāsīcchaṃkaraḥ pūjyo yathānye tridaśālayāḥ
Sejak saat itu, pemujaan terhadap liṅga pun timbul dalam kalangan manusia. Pada zaman dahulu, Śaṅkara dipuja hanya sebagaimana dewa-dewa lain dipuja di kediaman surgawi mereka.
