ऋषय ऊचुः । ब्रह्महत्या कथं जाता देवेन्द्रस्य महात्मनः । कस्मिन्काले च सर्वं नो विस्तरात्सूत कीर्तय
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | brahmahatyā kathaṃ jātā devendrasya mahātmanaḥ | kasminkāle ca sarvaṃ no vistarātsūta kīrtaya
Para ṛṣi berkata: “Bagaimanakah dosa brahma-hatyā (membunuh brāhmaṇa) timbul pada Dewa-Indra yang berhati agung? Dan pada waktu bilakah ia terjadi? Wahai Sūta, ceritakanlah kepada kami semuanya dengan terperinci.”
