Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 20

वेदोक्तेन विधानेन तां कन्यां समयोजयत् । पाणिग्रहेण विधिना द्विजातिगणसंवृतः

vedoktena vidhānena tāṃ kanyāṃ samayojayat | pāṇigraheṇa vidhinā dvijātigaṇasaṃvṛtaḥ

Menurut tata cara yang diajarkan oleh Veda, baginda menyatukan gadis itu dalam perkahwinan. Dikelilingi ramai golongan dwijati, upacara disempurnakan dengan pāṇigraha yang sah—menggenggam tangan pengantin perempuan.
