Transliteration

pretatvaṃ jāyate yasmāttasmācchrāddhasya taddinam | śrāddhārhaṃ pārthivaśreṣṭha viśeṣeṇa prakīrtitam

Translation

Kerana pada hari itu si mendiang mencapai keadaan preta, maka hari itulah—wahai raja yang terbaik—diisytiharkan sebagai hari yang amat layak untuk upacara śrāddha.
