Skanda (deduced; continuing dharma instructions in Kāśīkhaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Pilgrim/householder audience in Kāśī-khaṇḍa frame
Scene: A householder performs nīrājana by gently waving a cow’s tail near the body (without touching harshly), while a cow stands calm; dark wisps symbolizing disease and misfortune recede into the distance.
Contact with and ritual honoring of the cow is portrayed as a shield against inauspiciousness, conflict, and illness.
The verse belongs to Kāśī Khaṇḍa’s dharma milieu; the broader glorification is of Kāśī as a place where such rites bear great fruit.
Perform nīrājana (protective waving/ārati-like warding rite) over one’s body using a cow’s tail.
