इत्थं विलप्य बहुशो नयनांबुधारासंपातजात तटिनी शतमुत्तरंगम् । सा तोकशोकजनितानल तापतप्ता प्रोच्छ्वस्यदीर्घविपुलोष्णमहो शुशोष

itthaṃ vilapya bahuśo nayanāṃbudhārāsaṃpātajāta taṭinī śatamuttaraṃgam | sā tokaśokajanitānala tāpataptā procchvasyadīrghavipuloṣṇamaho śuśoṣa

Demikianlah dia meratap berkali-kali; aliran air matanya mencurah deras hingga seakan menjadi ratusan sungai berombak. Terbakar oleh bahang api yang lahir daripada dukacita atas anaknya, dia menghela nafas panjang, berat, dan panas—dan, aduhai, akhirnya layu mengering.
