Rudra (Śiva)
Tirtha: धर्मारण्य
Type: kshetra
Listener: पुत्र / सुत (son)
Scene: Merchants and townsfolk depart with carts and bundles; in the forest clearing, Śrīmātā manifests as Mātaṅgī—dark-hued, regal, protective—preparing to confront the threat.
When communities are distressed, the Goddess is depicted as manifesting in a fitting form to restore protection and dharma.
Dharmāraṇya, where Śrīmātā’s manifestation as Mātaṅgī is narrated as part of the site’s greatness.
No direct prescription; the verse introduces a theophany (divine form-taking) that later grounds worship at the site.
