व्याघ्रेणापहृतां पत्नीं वीक्ष्य विप्रोऽतिदुःखितः । रुरोद हा प्रिये बाले हा कांते हा पतिव्रते
vyāghreṇāpahṛtāṃ patnīṃ vīkṣya vipro'tiduḥkhitaḥ | ruroda hā priye bāle hā kāṃte hā pativrate
Melihat isterinya dilarikan oleh harimau, sang brāhmaṇa dilanda dukacita yang amat. Ia menangis kuat: “Aduhai, kekasihku! Wahai yang lembut! Wahai tersayang! Wahai isteri yang setia kepada suami!”
