Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 3

देवैः पितृमनुष्यैश्च ऋणमात्मकृतं च यत् । मुच्यते तत्क्षणान्मर्त्यः स्नातो वै नर्मदाजले

devaiḥ pitṛmanuṣyaiśca ṛṇamātmakṛtaṃ ca yat | mucyate tatkṣaṇānmartyaḥ snāto vai narmadājale

Apa jua hutang yang telah ditanggung—terhadap para dewa, para Pitṛ, dan sesama manusia—seorang insan fana terlepas daripadanya pada saat itu juga, setelah mandi dalam air Narmadā.
