तदा स कण्वभूपालः स्वकं दूतं समादिशत् कण्व उवाच । गच्छ त्वं पृच्छतां तां क्वागता क्वच गमिष्यसि । प्रेषितस्त्वरितो दूतो गतो नारीसमीपतः
tadā sa kaṇvabhūpālaḥ svakaṃ dūtaṃ samādiśat kaṇva uvāca | gaccha tvaṃ pṛcchatāṃ tāṃ kvāgatā kvaca gamiṣyasi | preṣitastvarito dūto gato nārīsamīpataḥ
Lalu Raja Kaṇva memerintahkan utusannya sendiri. Kaṇva berkata: “Pergilah, tanyakan kepadanya: ‘Dari mana engkau datang, dan ke mana engkau akan pergi?’” Utusan yang diperintah segera bergegas dan mendekati wanita itu.
