Type: kshetra
Listener: Revā-devī (as devotee) and the king as audience to the narration
Scene: Śiva and Umā appear together, radiant and compassionate, facing the devoted river-goddess (in woman form), with a gesture inviting her to speak her wish.
When devotion matures, the Lord responds personally and invites the devotee to articulate a dharmic wish (vara).
The Revā/Narmadā’s sanctity is being established through a direct encounter with Śiva and Umā.
No explicit ritual is prescribed here; it introduces the moment of vara-pradāna (granting a boon) after worship.
