Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 100

प्राप्य चाश्वयुजे मासि कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दशीम् । अहोरात्रोषितो भूत्वा पूजयित्वा महेश्वरम् । महापातकयुक्तोऽपि मुच्यते नात्र संशयः

prāpya cāśvayuje māsi kṛṣṇapakṣe caturdaśīm | ahorātroṣito bhūtvā pūjayitvā maheśvaram | mahāpātakayukto'pi mucyate nātra saṃśayaḥ

Apabila tiba pada hari Caturdaśī (hari keempat belas) dalam paruh gelap bulan Āśvayuja, lalu bermalam sehari semalam dan memuja Maheśvara, maka walau seseorang dibebani dosa besar sekalipun, dia dibebaskan—tiada syak lagi.
