शिष्यं शिरसि संताड्य सूत्रं देहे यथाक्रमम् । शांत्यतीतपदे सूत्रं लाञ्छयेन्मंत्रमुच्चरन्

Transliteration

śiṣyaṃ śirasi saṃtāḍya sūtraṃ dehe yathākramam | śāṃtyatītapade sūtraṃ lāñchayenmaṃtramuccaran

Translation

Sang guru menyentuh (mengetuk) kepala murid, lalu mengenakan benang suci pada tubuh menurut tertibnya. Sambil melafazkan mantra, hendaklah ia menandai dan mengikat benang itu pada titik yang disebut “Śāntyatīta”—kedudukan melampaui pendamaian—melambangkan bahawa murid melintasi ikatan berkat rahmat Śiva.
