प्रवेश-निवारणम् (Preventing Indrajit’s Banyan-Tree Rite) / Indrajit Confronts Vibhishana
इहत्वंजातसम्वृद्धःसाक्षाद्भ्रातापितुर्मम ।कथंद्रुह्यसिपुत्रस्यपितृव्योममराक्षस ।।6.87.11।।
iha tvaṃ jāta-saṃvṛddhaḥ sākṣād bhrātā pitur mama | kathaṃ druhyasi putrasya pitṛvyo mama rākṣasa ||6.87.11||
“Di sinilah engkau lahir dan dibesarkan; engkau sesungguhnya saudara kandung ayahandaku. Maka bagaimana, wahai rākṣasa, engkau memusuhi anak saudaramu—aku, puteranya?”
"O Rakshasa! You are born here and brought up by my father. You are my father'sbrother also. How can you be hostile to your son?"
It raises the question of competing dharmas: kula-dharma (family loyalty) versus universal dharma (righteousness). The Ramayana repeatedly tests whether kinship alone can justify supporting wrongdoing.
Indrajit challenges Vibhīṣaṇa’s defection by appealing to family bonds and his status as a paternal uncle.
A sense of lineage and obligation (as Indrajit frames it), though the text later implies that true virtue lies in choosing righteousness over blind kinship.
