Counsel of the Rakshasa Court to Ravana
कैलासशिखरावासीयक्षैर्बहुभिरावृतः ।सुमहत्कदनंकृत्वावश्यस्तेधनदःकृतः ।।6.7.6।।
kailāsa-śikhara-vāsī yakṣair bahubhir āvṛtaḥ |
sumahat kadanaṃ kṛtvā vaśyas te dhanadaḥ kṛtaḥ ||6.7.6||
Dhanada (Kubera), yang bersemayam di puncak Kailāsa dan dikelilingi banyak Yakṣa, setelah tuan melakukan pembantaian besar, telah ditundukkan di bawah kuasa tuan.
The verse points to domination achieved through violence; the Dharmic teaching is that rule gained by harm and coercion is unstable and morally corrupting, inviting eventual retribution.
The counselors recall Rāvaṇa’s subjugation of Kubera to amplify his sense of invincibility.
The counselors praise force; the epic’s virtue in contrast is self-restraint (dama) and respect for rightful order.
