Trisira’s Counsel and the Slaying of Naranthaka
न शेकुर्भाषितुंवीरा न स्थातुंस्पन्दितुंभयात् ।उत्पतन्तंस्थितंयान्तंसर्वान्विव्याधवीर्यवान् ।।।।
na śekur bhāṣituṃ vīrā na sthātuṃ spandituṃ bhayāt |
utpatantaṃ sthitaṃ yāntaṃ sarvān vivyādha vīryavān ||6.69.74||
Para wira Vānara kerana ketakutan tidak mampu berkata-kata, tidak mampu berdiri, bahkan tidak berani bergerak; namun yang gagah itu menikam mereka semua—yang melompat, yang berdiri, mahupun yang mara.
The gallant monkeys got terrified and could not flee, nor stand, nor move. The audacious Naranthaka marching ahead pierced the Vanaras either marching or jumping or stationary.
Fear can paralyze even the brave; dharma in crisis is to recover composure and act rightly despite terror, supporting the collective cause of justice.
Narāntaka’s assault terrifies the Vanara warriors, and he wounds them regardless of their movement or position.
The need for dhairya (steadfastness) in the face of overwhelming force; the verse shows how its absence leads to collapse in battle.
