महोदर-वाक्यं कुम्भकर्ण-प्रतिषेधः
Mahodara’s Counsel and the Critique of Kumbhakarna’s Solo Assault
कुम्भकर्णकुलेजातोधृष्टःप्राकृतदर्शनः ।अवलिप्तो न शक्नोषिकृत्यंसर्वत्रवेदितुम् ।।6.64.2।।
kumbhakarṇakule jāto dhṛṣṭaḥ prākṛtadarśanaḥ |
avalipto na śaknoṣi kṛtyaṃ sarvatra veditum ||6.64.2||
Wahai Kumbhakarṇa! Walaupun lahir dalam keturunan mulia, engkau berani lancang dan berpandangan rendah; dibutakan oleh kesombongan, engkau tidak mampu menilai, dalam apa jua perkara, apa yang patut dilakukan.
"Kumbhakarna! Although you are born of noble race, you are insolent, seeing your low intellect in all aspects you have no knowledge of what should be done or not to be done."
It stresses that true nobility is shown by right discernment of duty (kṛtya) and humility; pride and base outlook obstruct dharmic judgment even if one is high-born.
It implies that arrogance blinds a person to truthful appraisal of what is right to do; without clear recognition of truth, one cannot reliably choose dharmic action.
