Aditya Hridayam Upadeśa — Agastya’s Instruction to Rāma
हरिदश्वस्सहस्रार्चिस्सप्तसप्तिर्मरीचिमान् ।तिमिरोन्मथनश्शम्भुस्त्वष्टामार्तण्डकोऽंशुमान् ।।6.107.11।।
haridaśvaḥ sahasrārciḥ saptasaptiḥ marīcimān |
timironmathanaḥ śambhus tvaṣṭā mārtaṇḍako ’ṃśumān || 6.107.11 ||
Engkaulah yang berkuda hijau, berapi seribu nyala; ditarik tujuh kuda, sarat dengan sinar. Engkaulah penghapus kegelapan, Śambhu yang membawa kesejahteraan; Engkaulah Tvaṣṭṛ, Mārtaṇḍa, dan Aṃśumān yang bercahaya.
"You are the possessor of seven green horses, having a thousand rays, having horse Sapta, destroyer of darkness, mitigator of the suffering of all devotees, giver of happiness, destroyer of all names and forms, the infuser of life in the cosmic egg and having the all-pervading rays.
Dharma is linked with illumination: the righteous path is that which dispels inner darkness (confusion, fear) and brings clarity for right action.
Agastya continues the Āditya-hṛdaya praise, naming Sūrya’s epithets and powers to fortify Rāma.
Inner clarity and courage—the capacity to overcome ‘darkness’ (timira) through steadfastness and sacred recollection.
