Kṛṣṇādi-mantra-varga-varṇana
Classification of Krishna and Related Mantras
एवं ध्यात्वा जपेन्मंत्रान्पञ्चलक्षं पृथक् सुधीः । जुहुयात्तद्दशांशेन पायसेन ससर्पिषा ॥ ८ ॥
evaṃ dhyātvā japenmaṃtrānpañcalakṣaṃ pṛthak sudhīḥ | juhuyāttaddaśāṃśena pāyasena sasarpiṣā || 8 ||
Demikian setelah bermeditasi, orang bijaksana hendaklah mengulang japa mantra-mantra itu secara berasingan sebanyak lima laksa kali. Kemudian, dengan persembahan pāyasa (susu-beras) yang dimasak bersama ghee, hendaklah ia melakukan homa sebanyak satu persepuluh daripada bilangan itu.

Even though it is technical, the sequence implies bhakti as sustained remembrance (japa after dhyāna) and self-offering (homa), where the practitioner’s devotion is expressed through disciplined repetition and consecrated oblations.
It highlights ritual mathematics and procedure used in Vedic practice—lakṣa-count japa and the daśāṃśa rule (one-tenth) for homa—along with the prescribed havis (pāyasa with ghee) for the fire-offering.
