The Description of the Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇa’s Table of Contents
Anukramaṇī
cākṣuṣe'dyatane sarge dvitīyo'ṅghriḥ purodale | athopodghātapāde tu saptarṣiparikīrtanam || 13 ||
Suta (narrating the anukramanika/contents in the Purāṇic style)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It functions as an anukramaṇikā (table-of-contents) marker, showing that cosmic history (sarga and manvantara) is presented in an ordered, teachable sequence rooted in the rishi tradition.
Indirectly: by situating teachings within manvantara and rishi lineages, it frames bhakti and dharma as received through authoritative sages (Saptarṣis), not as isolated personal invention.
The verse reflects systematic textual organization—an anukramaṇikā approach—supporting study disciplines like Vyākaraṇa and Nirukta by clearly indexing sections (pāda/aṅghri) and topics (sarga, Saptarṣi).
