tvaṁ hi droṇavināśāya samutpanno hutāśanāt | saśaraḥ kavacī khaḍgī dhanvī ca paratāpanaḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Sesungguhnya engkau telah lahir dari api korban semata-mata untuk memusnahkan Droṇa. Bersama anak panah, bersarung zirah, memegang pedang dan busur—engkau penghangus musuh, ditetapkan takdir bagi tugas yang getir ini.”
संजय उवाच
The verse frames a warrior’s role as shaped by destiny and purpose: one’s origin and equipment are portrayed as aligned toward a specific end (Droṇa’s fall). Ethically, it highlights the Mahābhārata’s tension between dharma and the harsh necessities of war, where even revered figures may be destined to be brought down.
Sañjaya describes a key combatant (implicitly the fire-born warrior associated with Droṇa’s downfall) as having arisen from the sacrificial fire specifically to destroy Droṇa, emphasizing his readiness—arrows, armor, sword, and bow—and his capacity to afflict enemies in the ongoing Kurukṣetra war.
