Śrāddha-vidhi for Pitṛs: Invitations, Purity, Offerings, and Conduct
Narrator (Purāṇic discourse tradition; teaching on dharma within the Kurma Purana’s Purva-bhaga)
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: raudra
Indirectly: it emphasizes karma-phala and dharma as preparatory disciplines that purify the mind—supporting fitness for Atman-realization taught elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.
It highlights ethical restraint and reliability (a niyama-like discipline): honoring a formal commitment and avoiding fickleness, which the text treats as essential groundwork for higher yogic practice.
This verse is primarily dharma-focused and does not explicitly address Shiva–Vishnu unity; it supports the shared Purāṇic ideal that ethical discipline undergirds devotion and yoga in both Shaiva and Vaishnava frameworks.
