FAQs

It imparts Sahitya-shastra vidyā by cataloguing recognized ācāryas (authorities) connected with Sanskrit poetics and dramaturgy, establishing a lineage of textual expertise.

By preserving a compact index of learned authorities (including well-known figures like Daṇḍin and Bhavabhūti), the Agni Purana functions as a reference compendium spanning not only ritual and dharma but also classical literary science.

While not a ritual injunction, it supports dharmic learning: honoring and studying authoritative teachings is presented in Purāṇic culture as a meritorious pursuit that refines intellect (buddhi) and supports right conduct through discernment.
