Pratiṣṭhā-Kalaśa-Śodhana-Ukti (Instruction on Purifying the Consecration Pitcher) — Chapter 85
Lord Agni (in discourse to Sage Vasiṣṭha)
Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Cosmology","secondary_vidya":"Samanya","practical_application":"Cosmic cataloging for ritual/meditative mapping: recognize a fixed count of bhuvanas (worlds) with corresponding nomenclature, and correlate them with an equal count of Rudras—useful for japa, nyāsa, and cosmographic visualization.","sutra_style":true}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Bhuvana–Rudra Saṅkhyā: 65 Worlds and 65 Rudras","lookup_keywords":["bhuvana","rudra","saṅkhyā","lokas","enumeration"],"quick_summary":"The text states a one-to-one numerical correspondence: 65 bhuvanas and 65 Rudras, preparing for a named listing and enabling structured cosmological contemplation."}
Concept: Ordered cosmos: worlds are enumerable and correspond to divine powers (Rudras), implying governance of each level by a specific Rudra-form.
Application: For cosmological dhyāna or ritual mapping, pair each bhuvana with a Rudra-name (as the subsequent list would provide) to build a complete mental/ritual cosmogram.
Khanda Section: Cosmology and Divine Enumerations (Bhuvana-Rudra-Sankhya)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A cosmic map showing many stacked worlds (bhuvanas) with corresponding Rudra forms aligned to each level, suggesting a structured universe governed by Rudra-aspects.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, vertical cosmology with layered worlds, each layer guarded by a Rudra form, stylized flames and lotuses, traditional palette and bold outlines","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, central Śiva principle with radiating 65 Rudra medallions, gold highlights, worlds depicted as concentric tiers, ornate framing","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clear cosmographic chart: 65 tiers or nodes labeled as bhuvanas with matching Rudra icons, didactic layout, soft colors","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, intricate cosmology folio: stacked realms with small Rudra figures, fine calligraphy naming counts, delicate cloud bands and borders"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: षष्टिर्भुवनैः = षष्टिः + भुवनैः (विसर्ग-लोप); रुद्राश् च = रुद्राः + च (विसर्ग-लोप); विज्ञेयास्तत्र = विज्ञेयाः + तत्र.
Related Themes: Agni Purāṇa: subsequent verses likely listing names of bhuvanas and Rudras (tadyathā...); Agni Purāṇa: other cosmological enumerations (lokas, kalpas, manvantaras) in cosmology sections
It imparts classificatory (saṅkhyā) knowledge used in Purāṇic cosmology and theology: the fixed numerical correspondence between the bhuvanas (world-levels) and the Rudra-forms.
By preserving a precise numerical taxonomy (worlds and deities) that functions like a reference index for cosmography and deity-classifications—one of the Agni Purana’s hallmark encyclopedic features.
Contemplating and correctly knowing cosmic and divine correspondences is presented in Purāṇic tradition as a form of jñāna (sacred knowledge) that supports right understanding of the universe and devotion to Rudra’s manifold forms.
