Related Themes: Agni Purana 77 (Agneya-vidyā: homa-prayoga and nyāsa context)
It teaches a step in cullikā-homa: prepare the prescribed measure of materials, ritually purify the small hearth (cullī), and perform the pūraka-āhuti—an establishing/priming oblation into that fire.
Alongside theology and myth, the Agni Purana preserves practical, manual-like ritual instructions (homa logistics, purification steps, types of offerings), functioning as a compact reference for domestic and temple ritual performance.
Purifying the hearth and offering the pūraka-āhuti formally establishes the rite in a purified locus, aligning the sacrificer with ritual order (vidhi) and supporting the intended merit (puṇya) and purification (śuddhi) of the homa.
