Concept: Nimitta (omens) are addressed through mantra and homa; auspiciousness is cultivated by disciplined morning ritual and protective invocations.

Application: If disturbed by nightmares/inauspicious dreams, follow a structured remedial rite (mantra + homa + arghya + protection worship) rather than anxiety-driven action.

FAQs

It prescribes a practical remedial protocol for dream-omens: recite a Viṣṇu-focused mantra, treat auspicious dreams as favorable, counter inauspicious dreams with a specific appeasement fire-offering (Siṃha-homa), then complete morning arghya on a stone base and perform a protective ‘astra/astraka’ rite using the astra-mantra.

It shows the text functioning as a ritual handbook: combining mantra-vidhi (bīja and phaṭ usage), omens (svapna-phala logic), homa remedies, and daily worship elements (prātar-arghya), illustrating how the Agni Purana compiles diverse applied religious technologies into a single reference.

The verse frames ritual action as a means to stabilize outcomes: auspicious signs are affirmed, while inauspicious indications are purified and neutralized through homa, arghya, and protective mantra-prayoga—aimed at removing obstacles and restoring dharmic auspiciousness (śubhatva).
