ईश्वर उवाच । ब्राह्मी तु मंगला प्रोक्ता विशालाक्षी तु वैष्णवी । रौद्रीशक्तिः समाख्याता देवी सा चत्वरप्रिया
īśvara uvāca | brāhmī tu maṃgalā proktā viśālākṣī tu vaiṣṇavī | raudrīśaktiḥ samākhyātā devī sā catvarapriyā
ईश्वर म्हणाले—ब्राह्मी शक्तिरूपाने ती ‘मंगला’ म्हणून सांगितली जाते; वैष्णवी शक्तिरूपाने ती ‘विशालाक्षी’ म्हणून प्रसिद्ध आहे. ती ‘रौद्री-शक्ती’ म्हणूनही ख्यात असून, चत्वर (पवित्र चौक) प्रिय मानणारी देवी आहे।
