नैव तस्य परोलोको नायं लोको दुरात्मनः । अथ चेत्प्रतिगृह्णाति ब्राह्मणो वृत्तिदुर्बलः । दशांशमर्जिताद्दद्यादेवं तत्र न हीयते
naiva tasya paroloko nāyaṃ loko durātmanaḥ | atha cetpratigṛhṇāti brāhmaṇo vṛttidurbalaḥ | daśāṃśamarjitāddadyādevaṃ tatra na hīyate
त्या दुरात्म्यास ना परलोक लाभतो, ना हा लोकही खरा कल्याणकारी ठरतो. उपजीविकेने दुर्बल ब्राह्मणास दान स्वीकारावे लागल्यास, त्याने मिळकतीचा दहावा भाग दान करावा; असे केल्याने त्या तीर्थस्थानी त्याची आध्यात्मिक हानी होत नाही.

Scene: At Prabhāsa, a humble brāhmaṇa with sparse belongings accepts alms only out of necessity, then offers a measured tenth into a dāna-vessel before a shrine, while a darker figure symbolizes the ‘durātmā’ who clings to gain and loses both worlds.
Improper acceptance destroys both worldly and otherworldly good; necessity may be tempered by disciplined giving.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra, where conduct around receiving and giving is judged with special seriousness.
If compelled to accept, a brāhmaṇa should donate one-tenth of earnings (daśāṃśa-dāna) to avoid spiritual diminishment.
