mayūkhā iva saṃdīptāḥ kaustubhasya sphurattviṣaḥ | tairbāṇaiḥ kiṃcidāyasto harirjagrāha mudgaram
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) narrating to the sages (deduced from Māheśvara-khaṇḍa context)
Scene: Arrows blaze like sunrays, echoing the sparkle of the Kaustubha on Viṣṇu’s chest; though slightly pained, Hari’s composure remains, and he calmly reaches for and grips a heavy mace (mudgara).
Divine brilliance (tejas) remains evident even amid conflict; dharma responds appropriately, taking up the needed means.
